Miss Olga Wortham
Licensed Insurance Agent
I was born to a WWII Veteran and to one of the first five who began the Missionary groups to Central America. He later teamed up with the Episcopal Church where they began to build clinics and take mobile clinics to those hard-to-reach mountains that helped jump start the expansion of the Episcopal church in remote areas. ( there he married his translator my mom)
My previous career was a Correctional Officer. I worked at the Varick St ICE Detention Center in NYC. I was also my dad’s caretaker. In 2009 dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and living in the city became very challenging. I refused to place him in a nursing home. I took the doctor's advice and moved to a Quiet Covington with my 3 children.
We purchased a home in Covington Georgia, while my husband remained in NYC for work. Here I worked in Union City County Jail as a Jailer/Detention Officer.
I had a lot of challenges with my dad’s medical expenses, which put me in debt after his passing and on the brink of losing our home. When my father turned 65 he was a missionary helping to expand the reach of the Episcopal Church in Honduras. He did not receive the proper information regarding his Medicare coverage and thought the VA Hospital was all he needed as a result the medical expenses began.
He passed away in 2014 and made me promise that I would not return to do jail work. I lacked something to be passionate about until I discovered I could be an insurance agent with a focus on Medicare. I am passionate about this because I know how detrimental not having the correct information at the right time can be. I have been doing Medicare for several years and became an independent agent in 2021.
I was raised helping others and this is my way of service. My motto is H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everyday)
